2006 Limpa and Pirates (light design)
|
Based on a successful children's book by Andrus Kivirähk about Limpa, the Lemonade Pig (a mascot for a local beverage product), a play with puppets was staged at first in Viimsi cultural centre in Tallinn and went touring to several other places. The technical possibilities were quite limited (the lighting desk in Viimsi looks like you could open bus doors with the buttons and there is no local technical guy to tell you how to get the stuff to work the way you want it to - eventually I got an engineer now working at the Ministry of Culture to come and show me how he had once planned the whole system (in his early youth, I think) - thank you very much for that kindness!) and the piece was supposed to be very easy to tour to places with even worse technical situations. Nevertheless I think that this story about a boy being kidnapped by evil pirates to a fairyland caught the children quite well. We had different colours for different magical worlds and lots of backlight to make the sheets and blankets more alive than the actors themselves. Directed by Maria Usk Set designer: Liina Keevallik Original music: Riho Sibul Light design: Johanna-Mai Vihalem Cast: Haide Männamäe, Toomas Tross, Liivika Hanstin, Raivo Mets |
